This is the best ROM till date for the Optimus One. Mik OS is a legend.

This is a Gingerbread Custom ROM but works only on phones withe the old baseband(the phones which were updated to the official Gingerbread ROM by LG have new baseband). SO the unlucky people will have to flash the old baseband.

Enough of my talking. The full info about this ROM can be found at – http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354

I uploaded the file to iFile.it. No waiting time and blazing fast download speeds.

Part 2

Total Size – 85MB

This is an insanely customisable ROM which is available for the LG P500. And the developer is only 12 years old. Ciaox rocks!!!

You can find all the information related to this ROM here – http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033653

This ROM is based on Froyo. I will upload the ROM based on Gingerbread too.

The download links there make the user wait. So I uploaded them to ifile.it. No wait times now.

Since this is a 250MB file, I split the file. Just download the four parts(iFile.it supports parallel downloads) and then extract to get a folder where you get the main file

Posting on this site after a long long time. My last post was on Mar 31 2009 and today is September 12 2011.
Was busy with studies and all and was trying out full WordPress on shared hosting.
But lost interest in that. And now am back on this one again.

In the meantime, was using Nokia 5130XM. But now have bought an LG P500 (Optimus One).

Oh yeah, love the little green man. \m/

Apple presents iPhone OS 3.0

On 17th March 2009, Apple presented the latest reincarnation of their iPhone OS, which brings new and exciting features to the already capable OS. Another significant change is that there will be 1000 new APIs that will give developers new possibilities to control the iPhone. AppStore changes and enhanced Bluetooth capabilities will also see daylight.

There are also over 100 new features directly available to the end customers including cut copy and paste. Here’s a run down of the key ones.

* System-wide Cut, Copy and Paste feature
* Stereo A2DP Bluetooth streaming is on (not available to iPhone 2G)
* System-wide landscape keyboard
* A system-wide search Spotlight is added now including Mail, Calendar, Notes, iPod and web
* There’s now MMS support (not available to iPhone 2G)
* Turn-by-turn navigation (but only with third-party maps)
* You can forward and delete individual messages
* Notes can now be synced with iTunes
* WiFi auto-login for hotspots
* Bluetooth peer-to-peer connection with file exchange and remote control (over Bonjour only)
* Safari gets password login manager
* Support for YouTube accounts and YouTube subscriptions
* New action button in Photos lets you choose multiple pictures to attach to a mail message
* There are Voice Memos, which can be edited, cropped and shared using email or MMS
* Calendar gets Exchange support and will be able to sync with Google and Yahoo calendar services
* Stocks app will be getting news stories and stock details
* iPod gets shake-to-shuffle function
* Anti-phishing tool in Mobile Safari
* Increased number of supported languages
* Parental Controls are extended to movies, TV shows and App Store content
* Detailed Calls Log with call durations
* iTunes store account creation
* Proxy support
* Live video and audio streaming
* Internet tethering is now supported both via Bluetooth and USB(but available optionally)
* Voice recording
* Camera displays last taken picture in lower left corner – just as in existing Snapture app

And if you are interested how copy and paste works, here’s how – a double tap on text auto-selects it with grab points appearing at both ends of the selection for finer tuning it and a cut/copy/past bubble above. A second double tap elsewhere brings up the Paste bubble. It works across all applications including web content in Safari – well it was about time. You can also shake the iPhone to undo: the action brings up an “undo” and “cancel” dialog.

The universal search application Spotlight is accessible by flicking the left of the first tab of the regular homescreen.

The new AppStore changes will include optional In-App Purchases, meaning paid apps will be able to offer users optional upgrades or modules directly from the application environment. Unfortunately, free apps will not be able to offer paid upgrades.

Bluetooth enhancements will allow communication between iPhones and iPods with no pairing procedure needed over the existing Bonjour protocol. And it’s not limited to games – users can exchange contact details as well.

The new APIs would allow developers to link the core Maps data to new applications thus essentially embedding maps data to them.

There is even support for turn-by-turn navigation, but due to licensing reasons, Google Maps cannot be used for the purpose. Developers would have to use other maps data.

Next developers will be able to communicate with iPhone accessories, which are currently plugged in. For example, an application can control the plugged in FM transmitter by determining and setting up the best frequency instead of putting manual controls on the transmitter itself.

Another exciting option is creating medical accessories such as Bluetooth heart rate monitors or finger pricking Bluetooth glucose testers for diabetics.

Unfortunately, apps like instant messengers are still not allowed to run in the background with the new 3.0 package. Instead the Apple’s heavily overdue Push background notifications service is finally ready to launch – redesigned and upgraded to include support for various potential uses by developers.

The alerts supported by the service include changing of the app icon (addition of a counter icon badge), pop-up SMS-style reminders or sound alerts.

The Developer’s beta version of iPhone OS 3.0 is available as of today and everyone that’s participating in the developer’s program will have access to it. End customers will get it too, but not before this summer.

In the mean time, iPhone 3G will be spreading to 15 more countries thus creating a wide users base for this upcoming free update. Original iPhone owners will also be able to get it for free and use it, but some features such as A2DP stereo Bluetooth or MMS won’t work due to hardware differences.

iPod Touch owners will be able to upgrade to 3.0 for a one time fee of 9.95 US dollars. The second-gen iPod touch obviously has some Bluetooth functionality that can be unlocked with the new OS.

Unfortunately, Apple didn’t make any hardware announcement at this press conference. If there is a new iPhone in the oven, we guess we won’t hear about it before the end of June.

Despite the huge update, there’s still no Flash support in Safari web browser, no video recording, and no real multi-tasking. What about those “little” things, Apple? Well… iPhone OS 4.0, we guess.

Sony Ericsson T707 is now officially out. It may not be an extra exciting device, but it’s sleek, it’s got the looks, and it sports some quite nice light effects.

This little baby was spotted in the wild only a few weeks ago during a Sony Ericsson event in China. Well, now it’s as official as it gets since the handset has just been announced by the company with the help of the tennis star Maria Sharapova.

The smart T707 flip will come with a 2.2″ QVGA main display and a smaller scratch-resistant monochromatic one – on the outside.

Also aboard the T707 is a 3.2-megapixel fixed-focus snapper with cell-id geotagging, HSDPA and Bluetooth support and a music player with gesture control.

The Sony Ericsson T707 sports an M2 card slot and as Sony Ericsson say it is supposed to get along well even with microSD cards. Say what? Is this the beginning of the end of M2?

The Sony Ericsson T707 is expected to start shipping in Q2 2009 in three color versions – Mysterious Black, Spring Rose and Lucid Blue. As usual with Sony Ericsson handsets, there’s no word on pricing yet.

This tutorial was posted by me on this page: http://hotshot05.page.tl/Proxy-settings-for-NOP-for-S40v3-and-v5-phones.htm

All files required for this tutorial can be found at this page: http://my.opera.com/mobiapp/blog/2009/01/06/softwares

As we all know, Nokia doesn’t allow one to specify a proxy for an Access Point in Series 40 v2 and v3 and v5 phones (6131, 6133, 3110c, 5300, 5200, 5310, 6500) etc.

In its recent versions of the Series40 OS (v2 & v3 & v5), Nokia has removed the ability to specify a proxy server associated with an access point. Therefore, those with WAP network plans (such as TMobileWeb users, Airtel NOP users) are unable to use JAVA programs that require internet access (such as Opera Mini, Google Maps, …).

However, Nokia does allow users to create a provisioning document on their computer. This document, created in wbxml, specifies an access point along with a proxy. The S40 phone recognizes the configuration settings in the document and allows the JAVA midlet to use those instead, thereby allowing the midlet to access the proxy. Its very simple to implement.

The files included in the zip provide some sample xml documents, and the associated provisioning (.prov) files.

Download Nokia Java Proxy from http://my.opera.com/mobiapp/blog/2009/01/06/softwares to download Nokia S40 proxy settings for JAVA applications ZIP file.

Description of included files:
NokiaJAVAProxy.wml: The wml file that you can edit if you need/want different proxy settings.
NokiaJAVAProxy.prov: The actual binary wbxml provisioning file that should be sent to your phone (via bluetooth or usb). This can NOT be manually edited.

Process:

1: Push the “NokiaJAVAProxy.prov” file to your phone using Bluetooth. send the file via “Send File…” option only do not copy paste to your phone (“object push”, not file transfer). If your are unable to do it, just transfer it to any bluetooth supported phone and send that file via bluetooth to your phone.

2: The phone will recognize the configuration settings, and will prompt you to save them. Don’t worry if it says “no supported applications”.

3: Go to Settings->Configuration->Default Config. Settings, and change the default config to [the name of the configuration we just loaded].

That’s it! JAVA midlets like Opera Mini, Google Maps, MGMaps, etc… should work now.

Note: You have to send just one .prov file, the one which contains the settings for your area. To know which file to send, right click on a .prov file, click “Open”. The choose “Select application from a list” and choose “Notepad from the list”
In the file that opens, you will see something like 100.1.200.99 or something else. the number diplayed is the ip address of the NOP server. If you dont know the ip address call Customer Care.

Edit configuration file

But Main problem here How to Edit this wml file according to our service provider.
So Now i am going to tell how to do:
1. Download NokiaJAVAProxy.zip from above url.
2. Download wbxml2-0.9.0-bin.win32.rar from here(i uploaded.):
http://my.opera.com/mobiapp/blog/2009/01/06/softwares
3. Now after extracting open any of the .wml file, look as:

4. Edit acoording to your service provider specification, which i have marked as RED.
you can also edit Your service providers name(optionally), which i have marked as green. and Save it.
5. Now Make a folder in any Drive and copy/paste this wml file in this folder.
6. extract and copy/paste wbxml2-0.9.0-bin.win32 folder also in that folder(for your ease only).
7. open wbxml2-0.9.0-bin.win32 and you will see xml2wbxml.exe.
8. To run this file open command window and go your created folder by cd command and run it. It will show how to use it.
Syntax: xml2wbxl -o output.wbxml input.xml
Example
xml2wbxl -o C:\hotshot05\Idea proxy setting\NokiaJAVAProxy.prov C:\hotshot05\Idea proxy setting\NokiaJAVAProxy.wml

This will generate a .prov file with name NokiaJAVAProxy.prov in the folder name C:hotshot05Idea proxy setting.
9. Thats all.
